TKR/Triple-S 415 eq 1/2"×3/16" heavy-duty main drive
chain, complete with connecting springlink—£10.
(Heavy-duty chain has thicker plates and heavier gauge
pins.) Supplied in standard boxed length of 120-pins
(60-links).
This is the size of main drive chain for all
mopeds, autocycles, and many light motor cycles. Also
correct size to fit trade carrier bike heavy-guage pedal
chain.
Traditional Adie ‘Quality’ black cycle chain
½×⅛×112 pins, c/w connecting
springlink—£6.
Tested and approved to British Standard
report no.139676. Link plates are straight pierced and
pinned through the rollers in traditional manner, with roller
cores between the plates for better construction (not
plunge-pierced through the link-plates like ‘economy’
chains, which eliminates the roller core).
Ventura/KMC 7J–2 ‘Economy’ steel-finish cycle pedal chain ½"×⅛"×112 pins, c/w spring clip connecting link—£5.

High Melting Point Chain Grease, 1kg tin—£24.
Probably the most effective and cleanest
stuff you can treat your chain with! Put your chain in the
tin, then heat to melt the chain into the grease. Draw out,
drain and cool. (Tie a bit of wire around your chain helps
to fish it out when it’s hot). The HMP grease
thoroughly penetrates all the chain joints and runs clean (unlike
oil). Use and re-use—lasts for years!

Raleigh Wisp 38T rear sprocket, 94mm bore with 6-bolt
3×2 fixing to fit Atom hub—new—£10.
Bolts straight on, and 8mm dish-form keeps the chain correctly in
line.
The original Wisp was fitted with standard
44T sprocket (being the smallest size available for Atom hub with
94mm bore), but with the small wheels on the Wisp, the gearing
was too low, and Raleigh received a lot of customer complaints
about over-revving, vibration, slow performance, engine failure,
etc, so Raleigh produced a special 36T rear sprocket to gear-up
the drive. The original Raleigh 36T sprocket is no longer
available, but this 38T sprocket offers a considerable
improvement if you want to gear up your Wisp by 14% from a old
44T.
Rex sprockets are listed in Rex & Hercules Spares.

Sava 2.25×18 ‘Roadster’ pattern Whitewall
‘reinforced’ light motorcycle grade
tyre—£30 each.
Original size to fit Mobylette AV89/SP50,
Raleigh RM5, Norman Lido Mk3, Phillips Gadabout Mk4. More
substantial construction than the old Michelin/Hutchinson
‘balloon’ tyres, these new Savas do ride well and
these new whitewall tyres look smart too.
Vee Rubber 2.50×18 ‘Roadster’ tread
pattern. 4-ply rated—£20 each
For anyone looking for 2.25×18 tyres
for their Mobylette AV89, SP50, Raleigh RM5, Norman Lido Mk3
or Phillips Gadabout Mk4, the Michelins are an obsolete tyre
and 2.25×18 is no longer available. We’re
recommending to fit this 2.50×18 in place of the
Michelins. We’ve fitted these tyres ourselves onto
these bikes, and they go in OK without any fouling of the
mudguard or chainguard back. The handling is transformed,
steering more positive, and riding much nearer to a motor cycle
than a moped. When you’ve tried one of these mopeds
fitted with these tyres, you’ll wonder why you didn’t
fit them years ago.
2.00×19 (23×2) 24-B Mitas M-02
‘Economy’ blackwall moped
tyres—£20 each.
Made in Czech Republic. Speed rated 31mph.
Inflated width is only 1.9", so these fit
really easily in the back of Phillips Gadabouts and other
applications where narrow internal width of the mudguards can
make the fit of wider tyres difficult.
2.00×19 (23×2) 24-B Continental KS10
‘blackwall’ moped
tyres—£30 each.
2-ply nylon re-inforced.
2.00×19 (23×2) Continental ‘Whitewall’
moped tyres—£35 each.
KKS10 tread pattern.
Heidenau 2.25×19 (23×2¼) Moped tyre.
‘Universal’ block tread pattern. 3mm deep
tread. Rated 180km/h. Made in
Germany.—£25.
Finally a 19" alternative to the
Continental. A good tyre, if you can just squeeze that
extra ¼" width into your mudguards!
2.25×19 (23×2¼) Continental
‘Whitewall’ reinforced moped tyres—£38
each.
KKS10 tread pattern.
2.50×19 (equivalent to 600×65 or
24×2½) Deestone tyres—SOLD OUT - Waiting
for re-stock
4-ply nylon rated at 120km/h (74mph). Traditional road
pattern tread, with blocks 5mm deep.
Golden-Boy (Korea) 2.50×21 Universal pattern block tread
tyres—£50 each.
In ‘trail’ style block pattern very similar to the
old block tread Dunlop Universal 2.25×21, and former Kings
2.50×21 tyres. 4-ply nylon. Rated for
93mph.
Fits: Villiers powered 2F autocycles and 1F,
4F, 6F light motor cycles. etc. Late ’40s to early
’60s. 7mm deep tread blocks. Tyre diameter is
26½", so the same diameter as the old Kings tyre.
We've specially re-profiled the protruding side blocks to
reduce the inflated width to 2.50", so these tyres should now
clear the mudguard brackets in all autocycle and light motor
cycle applications.
This is the tyre we’re now recommending as the best fit
to replace the old 2.50×21 Kings for 2F autocycles and
light motor cycles with 21" wheel size.
2.50×21 Kings Tyre, 4-ply rated. 2½" tread
width. ALL SOLD OUT—NO MORE STOCK.
In ‘trail’ style pattern.
Similar to the old block tread Dunlop
Universal 2.25×21, as originally fitted to all Villiers 2F
powered autocycles, 1F, 4F, 6F, etc, powered light motor cycles
of late ’40s to early ’60s.
Note: this was the nearest compatible market tyre
available to suit these machines, but trade supplies of tyres
from Kings Tyres started becoming ‘difficult’ during
2014, and the company is now reportedly in administration.
We’re hoping that someone may resume the business or
acquire the moulds and return this size tyre pattern under
another brand—but don’t count on it!
2.75×21 Vee Rubber Tyre, nylon reinforced 6-ply
rated. In modern ‘Trail’ tread
pattern—£30 each.
Reinforced construction rated over 100mph. Chunky 10mm deep
tread arranged in staggered blocks, so the tyre should give a
reasonably smooth ride for road use.
Though this tyre is marked at
2.75" wide, it actually only measures
2.60" wide and, more importantly, the
tread blocks are a ROUNDED PROFILE and DO NOT stick out beyond
the width of the tyre body. Because of the deep
10mm tread blocks, the actual
diameter of this tyre measures 26¾", where the old 2.50×21 Kings measured
26½", so it may appear
slightly closer on the radial fit inside the mudguard.
Fitting this tyre into critical autocycle applications
(particularly James and New Hudson), which can are tight for
clearance, can be problematic. Other makes like Bown, etc,
which have large mudguard clearances are less prone to fitting
issues. The mudguard stay brackets do need to be neatly
nested against the inside of the mudguard, and the wheel does
need to run true, or there may be rotational fouling. The
chain adjustment may also need to be within the ‘middle
range’, or there could be some contact at full adjustment
ends front or rear. This tyre needs to be deflated when
fitting the wheel back into the rear dropouts, and be prepared to
have to lever it into place by the spindle, because the 6-ply
rating does make the tyre too firm to compress by hand, even when
it’s flat.
Please check your available
fitting space prior to ordering.

26" (early autocycles, Cyclemaster, Winged Wheel, trade bike,
etc).
All sizes £1 each.
26"×2"×1¾", Westwood pattern rim with special 32-hole pierce. 1mm/19 gauge (0.040") section. Spoke hole 0.180" diameter. Valve hole ¼" (0.250") diameter (drill out to 5/16"/6mm if required to suit Schrader valve inner tube)—£40 each.
New chrome plated rim, but showing a poor level of polish with a grainy commercial finish. Pierce shows a pretty sharp burr too—but these are a very difficult and non-standard rim to source, and this is all we can offer. Suits early Norman and some other autocycle makes with 32-hole front hub, and Norman Cyclemate front.
26"×2"×1¾", 36 hole, new chrome rims for early autocycle and trade bikes. 1mm/19 gauge (0.040") section. Spoke hole 0.180" diameter. Valve hole 1/4" (0.250") diameter—£25 each
Note: this rim size has been unavailable for a number of years now, since the last of the Van Schothorst stock dried up. The rims are plain of any marking, but they are certainly of Chinese origin. The section profile appears more comparable to the original Dunlop, where the Van Schothorst form used to be a little more ridged in the centre. New chrome plated rim, but showing a poor level of polish with a grainy commercial finish. In terms of thickness, the original Dunlop rims were 18 gauge (0.048"). These Chinese rims are made from 1mm material, equivalent to 19 gauge (0.040"). The Van Schothorst rims used to be produced in 21 gauge (0.032"), which was only a light cycle gauge section, and not well suited to the powered application of autocycles. The thicker section of these Chinese rims does make them perform much better than the Van Schothorst rims. The pierced spoke hole size is 0.180" (the Van Schothorst rims were just the same in this aspect), which may require cleaning out slightly to build, since Suffolk Wheels report that the standard 12 gauge spoke nipple is 0.200" diameter. The pierced (cycle) valve hole size is 1/4" (0.250"), which will require opening up to 5/16" (0.312") for anyone wishing to fit Schrader valve inner tubes.
26"×2"×1¾", Westwood pattern rim with special 40-hole pierce.
Suits Norman Cyclemate rear, and some other autocycle makes like Cyc-Auto with 40-hole rear hub.
21" × 2.25/2.5" (1.50) Radaelli ‘Westwood’
pattern, chrome plated, 36-hole, front and rear rims (Yes, they
are different).
Front rim—£46 each.
Rear rim—£46 each.
Suitable for tyre sizes 2.25–21 or 2.50–21, as used
on 2F model autocycles, etc.
Note: Inside of rim stamped
=E-21×1.50-DOT="RADAELLI"= There are no markings on
the presentation faces. Pierced hole diameter
0.240"/6.08mm.
Special Note: rims are pierced differently to suit front
and rear due to the different diameters of spoking through the 4"
front brake drum, and the spokes being laced through the larger
diameter of the rear sprocket. The rims are also
‘handed’ since the deeper angle pierce is to suit the
brake side for front and rear. Rims are, therefore,
identified by removable sticker as ‘front/brake side’
and ‘rear/brake side’ for assembly
purposes.
600×50B Endrick pattern new chrome rims (24"
equivalent). 36 hole pierce for 7 gauge diameter
spoke nipples (0.179"/4.5mm). Valve hole sized 9mm to fit
Schrader valve inner tube)—Sold Out
For old Mobylette models with tyres marked
24×2, 25×2, 600×50B, etc.
24×1.75 (26–507/20×1.0), Endrick pattern new
chrome rims (24" equivalent). 36 hole pierce for
7 gauge diameter spoke nipples (0.179"/4.5mm). Valve
hole sized 9mm to fit Schrader valve inner
tube)—£45.
Note: 20" diameter rim. Fits
tyre sizes marked 24×1.75×2 and/or 1.75×20.
Marked: ‘Radaelli – Made in Italy – 26 ×
507 – 24 × 1.75’ Stickered: ‘Steel Chrome
Italcerchio’ Typically for some Bianchi Aquilotto, Itom
Junior, some Itom Astor models.
New chrome-plated 19"×1.40"×36-hole rims,
‘Westrick’ pattern, typically suit tyre size
2.25×19 and 2.50×19. Takasago Industrial
Japanese made. Spoke hole size 6.4mm
(¼")—£30 each.
Rims are pierced and polished before plating, so very good chrome
finish, and there are no piercing burrs to the spoke holes.
Top quality rim for the price.
Note: 1.40" internal width.
2"×19" (1.20) Italcerchio ‘Endrick’ pattern 36-hole dimpled rims, chrome plated finish. Note: 36-hole pierce typically for Raleigh RM6 Runabout, Mobylette AV42 and other mopeds. Suitable for typical tyre sizes 2.00×19/23 or 2.25×19/23×2¼—£42 each.
These ‘square-sided’ rims are the
form particularly preferred for caliper braked arrangements with
brake blocks working on the side of the rim. Both sides of
the rim are ‘diamond imprinted’ for better block
braking performance.
Note: outside of rim stamped: * [—DOT
30.5×19 (1.2×19)] * "Italcerchio" Batch: 05
15. Pierced spoke hole nominal diameter
0.237"/6.00mm. Valve hole 0.335"/8.50mm for Schrader
valve. Chrome finish can be a little grainy in places on
the bridge of the rim due to inconsistent polish in the centre
section + some ‘solution spots’ to shine out (typical
‘average’ quality from the manufacturer).
So who are "Italcerchio"?
It seems that in 2013, ‘Radaelli’ sold out their
business to new owners Cerchio, who initially represented the
business as Cerchio-Radaelli, but have now adopted the new
‘Italcerchio’ brand for rims produced from the same
Radaelli factory, with the same equipment, by the same
people. Latest production now seems to being imprinted with
the new branding as of 2014.
2"×19" (1.20) Italcerchio ‘Westwood’ pattern 36 hole rims. Suitable for typical tyre sizes 2.00×19/23×2 or 2.25×19/23×2¼. £48 each.
Note: Inside of rim stamped: = Italcherchio = 03-15- & =E-19×1.20-DOT= There are no markings on presentation faces. Pierced spoke hole diameter 0.240"/6.08mm. The rim is formed from 0.048" (18 gauge)/1.2mm steel, so these are good solid construction. These rims are latest production/import 03/15 batch. An independent sample inspection by a professional wheel builder reports ‘The quality of the pierce, welded joint, polish and plating standard on this latest 03/15 batch is very good indeed. Notes:
New chrome plated steel handlebars.
These are correct cycle/moped type 7/8"
diameter handlebars, with 1" diameter splined ‘swell’
in the centre so they grip securely in the stem clamp. For
matching with 1" bore cycle/moped stem so you can thread the
curved forms on the handlebar through the clamp.
Traditional ‘North Road’ pattern handlebar (top on
illustration), typical old bicycle/autocycle, 22" wide with 7"
‘pullback’—£10.
‘All Rounder’ pattern handlebar (bottom on
illustration), typical modern cycle/moped , 22½" wide with
3" ‘pullback’—£10.
Chrome plated handlebar stem
9½"/240mm. New—£9 each.
7"/180mm. New—£8 each.
Stem tube 7/8"/22mm. Bar clamping to 1"
diameter, so you need to use ‘cycle type’ handlebars
with centre section ‘swollen’ to 1" diameter.
Note: these are cycle/moped stems, and NOT designed to clamp
motorcycle handlebars with constant 7/8" diameter
tube.
‘Classic’ pattern moped handlegrips 4"/100mm long
(black)—£4 pair.
Classic pattern grip is very similar style to
typical Mobylette, Amal, Magura, and Dare pattern grips.
Normally supplied as 1 × 7/8" grip for left
handlebar + 1 × 1" grip for throttle. If
you have a machine with twist change gear shift on the left bar,
then you’ll need a 2 × 1" grips combination
instead. Same price. These are correct moped length
‘short’ grips; motorcycle grips are typically 5"
long, so you end up with 1" of ‘baggy end’ if you try
putting those on a moped.
‘Radial rib’ pattern moped handlegrips 4"/100mm
long (black)—£3 pair.
Radial rib pattern gives comfortable
‘palm’ form and minimises transmitted handlebar
vibration. Normally supplied as 1 × 7/8"
grip for left handlebar + 1 × 1" grip for
throttle. If you have a machine with twist change gear
shift on the left bar, then you’ll need a
2 × 1" grips combination instead. Same
price. These are correct moped length ‘short’
grips; motorcycle grips are typically 5" long, so you end up with
1" of ‘baggy end’ if you try putting those on a
moped.
Handlegrips, 5"/125mm long black rubber ‘palm’
style, 7/8" I/D autocycle
grips. Sidewall minimum 4mm, up to 7mm thickness in palm
section. A nice chunky old type firm rubber grip.
Good quality—£4 pair.
Handlegrips, 4½"/113mm long black rubber

fits straight into the original Excelsior decompressor valve body
and restores it to practical operation.
You do need your own decompressor valve body. This is
not included with the lever kit.

diameter—£2 per metre.
No.1 size chrome plated cable ferrules to fit 5mm diameter

You can fix these on with just a couple of
dot-punch taps, or some people prefer to glue them
on—either works.
New Tiger-wire No.1 size inner cable wire 1.5mm diameter
× 1.8metre long—£1.70.
C/w 2 different types of diecast zinc nipples
each end (just clip either off if you don’t want to use
it). Bell nipple on one end, Barrel nipple 7mm dia x 6mm
long other end. The pre-fitted Bell nipple fitting is
directly compatible with many continental brake cable
applications (Mobylette, etc), so just clip off the barrel nipple
and slide straight in as new brake wire. Galvanised fully
solderable wire (you can’t solder fittings onto stainless
wire).
No.1 cable sheath & inner wire set—just
£2.
Comprises: 1.4 metre length × No.1
nylon-lined BLACK outer sheath 4.6mm diameter, c/w crimp fitted
chrome plated ferrules 5.3mm diameter at both ends. C/w 1.8
metre length of No.1 size inner cable wire 1.5mm diameter c/w
diecast zinc barrel nipple 7mm dia × 6mm long on one end
(just clip it off if you don’t want to use it).
Sealed end at tail of inner wire, so it won’t fray.
Galvanised fully solderable wire (you can’t solder fittings
onto stainless wire).
No.2/No.1 size step-down ferrule—50p each.
Cable cup 6.05mm, step-down location diameter 4.4mm, through bore
size 2.75mm. Total length 12mm. Chrome plated
finish.
Locates straight on to No.2 size 6mm cable
sheath (moped brake cable size). You can fix these on with
just a couple of dot-punch taps, or some people prefer to glue
them on—either works. Also accepts No.1 size 5mm
cable sheath with standard ferrule fitted. These step-down
ferrules are typically used to locate the brake cables on Raleigh
type cycle/moped levers and to locate the decompressor cable into
the decompressor spring on Mobylette/Raleigh cylinder heads, some
cyclemotor throttle decompressor controls, some autocycle cables,
and many other applications.
No.2/No.1 size step-down ferrule—50p each.
Cable cup 5.80mm, step-down location diameter 4.2mm, through bore
size 2.50mm. Total length 12.4mm. Machined
aluminium.
Locates firmly straight on to No.2 size 6mm
cable sheath (moped brake cable size), and you don’t need
to use a No.2 ferrule (this step-down replaces it to fit straight
on the sheath). Also accepts No.1 size 5mm cable sheath
with standard ferrule fitted. These step-down ferrules are
typically used to locate the brake cables on Raleigh type
cycle/moped levers and to locate the decompressor cable into the
decompressor spring on Mobylette/Raleigh cylinder heads, some
cyclemotor throttle decompressor controls, some autocycle cables,
and many other applications.
No.2 Heavy-Duty Cable Components (normally used for brake
cables).
No.2 size inner wire 2.0mm—£1 per metre.
Galvanised fully solderable wire (you
can’t solder fittings to stainless wire).
No.2 size BLACK outer sheath with nylon liner 6mm
diameter—£2 per metre.
The nylon liner in this sheath gives
especially light and effective cable action.
No.2 size chrome plated cable ferrules to fit 6mm diameter
sheath—pack of 10 for £2.
You can fix these on with just a couple of
dot-punch taps, or some people prefer to glue them
on—either works.
Note—outside diameter of ferrule is 6.9mm, so
requires minimum 7mm diameter cable cup to fit. Many moped
cable cups and adjuster cups are smaller diameter than this, so
may need opening out to suit a No.2 ferrule.
Tip—Use No.1 ferrules instead. We generally
prefer to trim a small piece of sleeve off the end of the outer
sheath, then resin bond/araldite No.1 ferrules instead onto the
cable outer coil, then they fit straight into all the standard
cable cups.
Extra-long ‘Tandem gear cable’ No.0 size inner
cable wire 1.25mm × 2.7metre long (10ft
6in)—£2.
C/w diecast zinc in-line barrel nipple 4mm
dia × 4.5mm long on one end (just clip it off if you
don’t want to use it). Galvanised fully solderable
wire (you can’t solder fittings onto stainless wire).
Direct applications for Cyclemaster & BSA Winged Wheel
throttle cables, Ariel 3 throttle and choke cables,
etc. Fits both 0 & 1 size outer sheath.
Extra-long ‘Tandem brake’ No.1 size inner cable
wire 1.5mm diameter × 1.8metre long
(70")—£2.
C/w 2 different types of diecast zinc nipples
each end (just clip either off if you don’t want to use
it). Bell nipple on one end, Barrel nipple
7mm dia × 6mm long other end. This
inner wire is particularly suitable for extra-long applications,
eg: Cyclemaster clutch cable, Ariel 3 rear brake, etc.
Galvanised fully solderable wire (you can’t solder fittings
onto stainless wire).
Cable End Trims—12 for £1.
Aluminium ... won’t rust. Resolves the problem of
fraying ends on cut cables. Just crimp on lightly with
pliers.

side—£20 RH side.
Require painting to match the genuine panels,
once these f/glass covers are fitted, the difference is barely
noticeable.
Note: the original panels were made in pressed
steel. The RH engine cover
panel originally had a ‘lifting handle’ mounted in
the cover, and two holes were pierced through the cover for
fixing this. The fibreglass replacement panel is moulded
with the holes blanked out so can be used plain without
re-fitting the handle, but their positions are marked with
circles if you may wish to drill them out to re-fix the original
lifting handle (for cosmetic purposes only—you can’t
lift a bike from a fibreglass panel). The original steel
panel was equally incapable of withstanding the bike being lifted
by the handle anyway, and the steel would always become distorted
and split around the front panel fixing point. We
don’t do replacement lifting handles yet, but are working
on a ‘cosmetic’ replacement handle made from
aluminium to go with the panel. Hopefully to become
available shortly.

whatever bike it is being fitted on. The gel coat is not a
finished colour coat.

original badge and special screw have not been available for some
time. Original Mobylette badge was plastic moulded, back
painted, and was held on by a special M3 × 0.6mm pitch
screw. It would not have been viable to remake badges by
the original method, so they have been re-created by more
practical modern means. The new badges consist of two
components, a bright nickel plated metal diecast badge mount, and
a domed badge with self adhesive backing so it can be stuck to
the bright face of the badge mount. The textured back of
the badge mount can then be glued (impact adhesive,
araldite/resin, or mastic) to the badge mounting point on the
fuel tank, and engages into the correct position by the location
pin on the back of the badge mount, which centres into the former
screw hole.

Raleigh/Mobylette stand pivot bolt Fix-it kit—£1

Irritated by that wobbly stand on your
Raleigh or Mobylette moped? Your can simply Fix-it with
this bolt & nut set—just drill the pivot bracket/bush
on the frame and the two holes in the stand out to 5/16" and put
this new bolt in.
There’s a little story as to why all the Raleigh moped
stands are so wobbly7hellip;
Mobylette sized their stand/frame to 7mm, and put in a 7mm pivot
bolt. When Raleigh received all the Motobecane frame
components to build all their moped models from RM4 to RM12, the
main parts were received as components for assembly at
Nottingham. While Raleigh sourced the frame bracket/bush
and stand from Moby standardly sized at 7mm, they didn’t
source the 7mm bolts—and fitted a ¼" (6.4mm) bolt
instead, which is why all the Raleigh stands are so wobbly.
Fix-it stand pivot bolt kit also sorts out Moby stands which have
worn loose over the years.
